TRAINING THE DOG

Welcome to our Dog Obedience Training Classes for beginners, intermediates and advanced trainers wanting to continue building on their skills or just want to brush up on them and learn some new things!

Our friendly and knowledgeable trainer/behaviourist is here to help you and your furry friend build a strong foundation of communication and trust. Join us to learn essential commands and techniques that will enhance your dog's skills and your bond. Commands we will learn are; Leave it / Tss / Release / Sit / Stay /Off / Come /Down / Heel / Wait / Quiet / Play, to name a few.

Spring sessions start Monday evening May 5th at 6:30pm and will be held twice a week for an intensive and concentrated course with ample time to practice, keeping your stimulated and interested, not bored of the same old same old stuff. A bored dog is hard to train. I find this also helps push you to do the practice that is so necessary to see the outcome of a happy, willing to please, dog.

So make sure to book your spot early as we only have 6 available spots for each level.

Classes are Mondays and Thursdays at 6:30 pm for level 1. 7:30 pm for level 2 and 8:30 pm for level 3. Be on time as to not disrupt the class. We do have a 10 minute socialization and question period before the start.

What you will need: 6-foot leash & martingale collar. Wear comfortable shoes and weather appropriate clothing and don't forget to bring a fun attitude. Consistency is extremely important in dog training so bring the whole human pack! Everyone in your family is welcome and encouraged to come to classes! Max 5 per student. You can always rotate. Friends are welcome to join in on the fun with your dog as well!

KINDER CLASS

Get ready for some puppy fun!

Welcome to our puppy socialization sessions for furry friends aged 10 weeks to 5 months! To join the adventure, make sure your pup has had at least 2 sets of shots and is feeling their best. Bring your little one to a safe and lively environment where they can mingle with dogs of all ages and other playful pups, learning fantastic social skills and doggy etiquette along the way! Join us every Monday from 10 AM to 12 PM. Spots are limited, so be sure to book your place today for just 40!

OBEDIENCE 1

Join us for an incredible learning journey in our Obedience 1 class! We're thrilled to provide small, personalized sessions that ensure ample one-on-one time with your trainer/behaviourist. Please note that puppies under 7 months may not be suitable for this intensive program, as they are still developing. Too much, too early, can negatively impact their development.

With only 5 students per class, you'll dive into the basics that make up the core commands and strengthens you skills. Participate in six enjoyable and interactive sessions, that are only a few days apart, allows you to move quickly through the course, allowing for early chaining. OBEDIENCE 2

Welcome to Level 2 Intermediate Training!

Intermediate training assumes your dog has already mastered fundamental commands like sit, stay, down, and come.

Here, you will improve your dog's skills and control to get to an off leash controlled area while also discovering how to use hand signals and read dog body language effectively. Only 5 spots so book ahead.

Must complete and pass Level 1 or equivalent to sign up for next level.

OBEDIENCE 3

Welcome to Level 3 Advanced Obedience where you will learn to focus on skills like off-leash control, extended duration stays with distractions, and more complex commands and behaviours, often incorporating techniques like shaping, distraction-proofing and chaining behaviours. Advanced training builds upon the foundation of basic commands (sit, stay, come) and introduces more complex skills and behaviours, under distraction and develops a greater focus on you.

Only 5 spots per class so sign up early so you don't miss out this summer.

UPCOMING CLASSES

KINDER CLASS

Every Monday except holidays.

Between 10 am and 12 noon.

What you will need; A soft non chain collar. Not a fancy one with their tags hanging off but a plain nylon collar with no tags for safe play.

Bring their lunch. It's a good way to learn patience and boundaries with other dogs. Food is usually an issue for dogs.

Puppies must be well trained off the pee pads or on track to be, and we will work with you to get there.

A small pack of daycare dogs of all ages will be here to teach the pups along side the trainer/behaviourist. And other puppies too, of course.

LEVEL 1 OBEDIENCE

May 5th, 2025

6:30 pm to 7:30 pm and every Thursday and Monday for the following 2 weeks

Wear comfortable shoes and layer up for the weather. We do have a large covered deck, if needed.

You will need a 6 foot leash and a martingale collar, and if your pup is treat oriented, bring treats if you must, but we like to start our class without.

The basic commands we will cover in this class are;
Go Potty / Ring bell/ Yip / Leave it / Tss / Sit / Stay / Off .

Walk the dog prior to class so they have a chance to relieve themselves. The first 10 minutes is off leash time to run around and socialize, so the rest of the time on leash they won't be pulling as much to get to the other dogs.

If you are aware of an issue prior to class and the off leash time, let the trainer/behaviour know so we can address the issue on leash.

LEVEL 2 OBEDIENCE

May 5th, 2025

7:30 pm to 8:30 pm and every Thursday and Monday for the following 2 weeks

Wear comfortable shoes and layer up for the weather.
You will need a 6 foot leash and a 10 ft leash and a martingale collar, and I encourage you to not bring treats.

The basic commands we will cover in this class we will be adding are; Come /Down / Heel / Wait / Quiet

Walk the dog prior to class so they have a chance to relieve themselves. The first 10 minutes is off leash time to run around and socialize, so the rest of the time on a long leash they won't be pulling as much to get to the other dogs.

If you are aware of an issue the trainer should be aware of prior to class and the off leash time, let the trainer/behaviourist know so we can address the issue right away.

LEVEL 3 OBEDIENCE

May 5th, 2025

8:30 pm to 9:30 pm and every Thursday and Monday for the following 2 weeks

Wear comfortable shoes and layer up for the weather.
You will need a 6 foot leash and a 20 ft leash and a martingale collar, and you can bring treats, but I encourage you to try without treats.

The commands we have been using will be continued and used and I will be introducing hand signals and doing off leash work, distraction and chaining commands.

If you are aware of an issue the trainer should be aware of prior to class and the off leash time, let the trainer/behaviourist know so we can address the issue right away.
